Running Water

Tears will fall without you even asking for them

And then run down your cheeks for no reason at all

Does all water run without permission?

What told it to go?

And why does it puddle outside our car doors?

Or drench our newly straightened hair?

I watch the lines form on my window 

Then on my face

And so I drown
